Sinéad O’Connor’s blues put her in treatment

Sinéad O’Connor is taking a much-needed mental break after sending suicidal tweets and ending a traumatic relationship.

It’s been a roller coaster few months for Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor. The “Nothing Compares 2 U” scribe started her crazy antics with a sex-fueled blog post back in August. That led her to meet — and later marry — 38-year-old drug counselor Barry Herridge in November.

Now? She’s getting a divorce and seeking treatment for her depression.

“Gonna be off radar for few weeks. But will be back. Worry not,” the singer tweeted earlier this week. “I’m going to hospital. Treatment for depression.”

“Not at all well. But they will put me back together quick,” she added. The hospital stay comes days after she sent out a series of bizarre suicidal tweets.

“I realize i will be in trouble 4 doing this but.. ireland is a VERY hard place to find help in,” she wrote at 6 a.m. on Jan. 12. “Does any1 know a psychiatrist in dublin or wicklow who could urgently see me today please? im really un-well… and i desperately need to get back on meds today.”

The pain, she said, stemmed from her split with Herridge. The couple separated after 19 days — something O’Connor blamed on her wedding night crack binge. They got back together after a night of “hot sex,” but ultimately decided to part ways for good.

“We ended up in a cab in some place that was quite dangerous,” O’Connor told the U.K. tabloid The Sun of their wedding night.

“I wasn’t scared — but he’s a drugs counselor. What was I thinking? Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really.”

Basically, she needs serious help — more help than she thinks she needs.

“[I’ll] be grand in few weeks,” she tweeted of her upcoming hospital stay. “I be me again in 2 weeks they say. Don’t want anyone worrying. Should only worry if a depressed person DOESN’T go hospital. All will be well.”

Her Twitter account is a sad look into the once-promising musician’s current state of mind.

“Do they have agencies where u can hire sweet old ladies to come round and hug u?” she tweeted earlier this week. “If not does anyone wanna start one?”

Here’s hoping someone will hug her in rehab.
