Katherine Heigl wants back on Grey’s Anatomy

Katherine Heigl wants to return to Seattle Grace. The actress is interested in reprising her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. After a tumultuous exit, she wants to give the character some much-needed closure.

Katherine Heigl still has love for Grey’s Anatomy. Even though she left the show in 2010 (to focus on her new daughter), she’s ready to return. Heigl wants to know what Izzie Stevens has been up to.

While promoting her latest film, One for the Money, Heigl told E Online that she’s interested in checking back into Seattle Grace (the show’s fictional hospital).

“I’ve told them I want to,” said Heigl. “I don’t know… Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that, I mean she’s got — how many characters are there now? There’s a lot and so she’s [Shonda Rhimes] balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes.”

Heigl’s final Grey’s appearance was in Jan. 2010. At the time, her character had gone through the ringer. She survived a terminal illness and multiple failed relationships. Where could Izzie go from there? Heigl wants to know.

The actress revealed, “I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now. My idea is that she actually, like, figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital. She was always floundering you know, and so she was always one step behind the eight ball and I want to see that girl take some power back.”
