Adele: The most covered artist on the Planet? The past 12 months of music have undoubtedly belonged to the British powerhouse. And if the karaoke scene had a soundtrack, it would almost certainly be “Someone Like You.” Adele’s anthem is a popular choice for wannabe singers on reality shows, YouTube and even in karaoke bars.
Adele is the queen of karaoke!
The 21 songstress is not only a titan on the Billboard charts, she’s a huge hit on the karaoke scene, too.
Betcha didn’t know that almost one in four wannabe singers choose one of Adele’s songs when they pick up a microphone in a bar filled with other tone-deaf X Factor rejects.
Her number one hit “Someone Like You” was the most sung karaoke song of 2011, according Lucky Voice, a karaoke application for amateur vocalists.
Adele’s rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Make You Feel My Love” was the second most popular choice, picked by 10 percent of singers polled. Her Grammy-nominated “Rolling in the Deep” also figured in the top 10.
“Adele has got one of the greatest voices in contemporary pop, so it’s no surprise our customers want to test themselves against the best and pick her songs in such overwhelming numbers,” says Nick Thistleton, managing director of Lucky Voice.
As it turns out, Adele’s also pretty popular on the Interwebs.
Every amateur musician and their dog has covered “Rolling In The Deep.” And we’re not even exaggerating (much).
Over 350,000 people have posted their renditions of the hit song on YouTube. Now a very clever guy named Luc Bergeron has mashed more than 70 of them together into an amazing new viral video heating up the blogosphere.

Meanwhile, Adele’s sophomore set, 21, just recorded it’s 16th straight week atop the Billboard 200, the longest such streak since the Titanic soundtrack enjoyed a similar run at number one in 1998. The disc is one of only five albums to spend 16 straight weeks atop the coveted chart since SoundScan began keeping track of sales data in 1991.
In addition to the Titanic soundtrack, 21 is in the elite company of The Bodyguard soundtrack (20 weeks from 1992-1993) and Garth Brooks’ Ropin’ the Wind (18 weeks from 1991-1992). Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All was the best-selling album in America for 17 straight weeks in 1992.
Adele could make a U.S. stage comeback at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards next month. The British powerhouse has been sidelined ever since undergoing an operation last November to cure a voice-threatening vocal cord hemorrhage.
