Kara Janx is back on Project Runway All Stars with a big celebrity following! Will she win top honors this time around?
Kara Janx made it all the way to the top four in season two of Project Runway before being sent packing following her elimination.
Born in South Africa, Janx holds a degree in architecture and moved to New York City to pursue a career in fashion. The married mother of two launched her first collection in 2002, and landed a spot on Project Runway a few years later.
During her time on Project Runway, her eye for color helped the designer make it through eleven episodes, although she didn’t win a single challenge. She also received one of the lowest scores on three episodes, and ultimately wasn’t able to impress the judges enough to keep her around til the very end.
Since appearing on Project Runway, her career has taken off and the fashion world has taken notice. Her collections are known for being hip and youthful and as a result she’s gained quite the celebrity following.
Janx’s clientele includes several fashionable, high-profile actresses such as Emma Watson and Julia Roberts. She’s also found fans in fashionista Rihanna and reality show personality Bethenny Frankel, the savvy businesswoman behind Skinny Girl cocktails.
In Spring 2011, she debuted her bridal line to great praise thanks to her ability to flatter a woman’s body and create pieces with subtle glamour. Her pieces have been featured in several magazines and she recently appeared on The Sundance Channel’s All on the Line with Joe Zee.
Given her success, it’s no surprise this design darling is making a comeback to reality television with Project Runway All Stars. Janx faces fierce competition this season from talented fellow alums that include Austin Scarlett and Rami Kashou. Will her unexpected color pairings and eye for detail be enough to take home the crown this time around?
Tune in to Lifetime on Thursday nights to find out what happens.
