Is Angelina Jolie done with acting?

Should Angelina Jolie throw in the towel on acting? After directing her first film, In the Land of Blood and Honey, the actress is considering a career change. Angelina Jolie the actress could take a backseat to Angelina Jolie the director.

Angelina Jolie has a new passion in life — directing. The actress spent two years working on her directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey and is ready for more.

Jolie told E Online, “I still love acting — if I can find those roles that matter. But if I don’t, it’s nice to be able to shine the spotlight on another actress you think is extremely talented and give her the spotlight.”

The biggest challenge for any director is bringing out the best in an actor. And it sounds like Jolie has mastered that skill.

Over the course of her career, she’s learned from Hollywood veterans like Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, Oliver Stone and James Mangold. You can’t get better training than that!

This year, Jolie’s In the Land of Blood in Honey was nominated for a Golden Globe award in the Best Foreign Language Film category, but lost to Iran’s A Separation.

This past Saturday, the Producers Guild honored Jolie and her movie with the coveted Stanley Kramer Award. Since 2002, the prize has been given to films that “illuminate provocative social issues.”

Even though Jolie’s enjoying her time as a director, she’s still keeping an eye out for good roles. She’s currently working on the live-action adaptation Maleficent, which is a re-telling of Sleeping Beauty from the villain’s perspective. Jolie will play the title role and be directed by Robert Stromberg.

In the Land of Blood and Honey is currently playing in limited release, while Maleficent is in pre-production. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2015.
