The popular ABC series The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are heading to Canada this fall for the first time ever.
The Bachelor is coming to Canada, eh?
The popular – and highly addictive – ABC reality series will be coming to the True North, Strong and Free, as The Bachelor Canada premiere is set to air this fall.
The love-match show follows 25 women (or men if it’s The Bachelorette) vying for the heart of one lucky person, while trying to get that final coveted red rose. According to Toronto.com, the host of the series, Chris Harrison, made the announcement today while on CityTV Toronto.
In a press release from Rogers Media, the series will be produced in Vancouver, debuting with a total of nine episodes. Executive Producer of The Bachelor Canada and the Director of Original Programming at Rogers Media, Claire Freeland, says that they hope to put a “Canadian spin” on the romantic reality franchise.
“Canada is brimming with eligible bachelors and bachelorettes and we’re excited to offer them the opportunity to embark on their own quest for love,” says Freeland in the release. Pre-production has also already begun.
Although this will be the first time the show will be filmed in Canada and consist of bachelors and bachelorettes from Canada, this isn’t the first time a Canadian will be featured on the series. Two women from Canada were among the 25 contestants on season 15, where they competed for Jake Pavelka’s heart. More notably, Jillian Harris was the first non-American Bachelorette, while NFL Quarterback Jesse Palmer was the first non-American Bachelor.
