It looks like Kim’s landed herself another television role — except this time, the reality star will be using her diva status to act.
From reality diva to television diva, Kim Kardashian scores new acting role on series.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star will be appearing in Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva, a comedy-drama about a vapid blonde who returns to earth after being killed in a car crash, only to be reincarnated as an overweight lawyer.
According to Canada.com entertainment, Kim will play a recurring character, Nikki, who becomes the love interest of guardian angel Fred and new business partner, Stacy. The series creator and executive producer of the show, Josh Berman, says he’s happy that Kim is part of this new season and he is “estatic to welcome Kim to the Diva family.”
“I’m blown away by her smarts, sense of humour and passion,” says Josh.
Though this is not the first acting role for the reality diva, there has been some backlash about Kim’s acting ability. In November 2011 she was cast in Tyler Perry’s new movie, The Marriage Counselor, as a marriage counselor — cue in the irony — and his choice was immediately criticized. But Tyler Perry stuck to his guns and did not let Kim’s own failed marriage alter his decision.
“Because I believe that my films speak from the inside out, why wouldn’t Kim Kardashian be invited into a film about Faith, Forgiveness and the healing power of God?” said the director on his website, according to US Weekly magazine.
