The Spice Girls look set to reunite for Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. Loose-lipped band member Mel B has spilled the ”top secret” information that the popular ’90s girl group will likely perform a summer gig celebrating the monarch’s 60th year on the throne.

During an interview with an Australian TV station over the weekend, good old Melanie “Mel B” Brown accidentally revealed the “top-secret” news that the Spice Girls are temporarily reforming for the Diamond Jubilee, a concert to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60th year on the throne.

The festivities will go down at Buckingham Palace on June 4 and the Spiced Ones have been hotly rumored to be up for a spot on the starting lineup. It’s only fitting, as the Guinness Book of World Records has the band listed as the most successful British girl group in history (eclipsing former record holders Bananarama for the honor).
The “Wannabe” hit-makers — which also includes Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Chisholm and Victoria Beckham — last reunited for a comeback tour in 2007, seven years after splitting up in 2000.
“Ooh, I think the Queen’s Jubilee concert is the event I’d be looking at more closely for that to happen,” a chipper Mel replied when asked if the girl band would get back together for the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
The singer-turned-TV personality quickly changed the subject after realizing she had made the admission. But after the show, Mel admitted that news of the Jubilee gig was still “top secret.”
“I am going to be in such strife for saying that. It’s all so totally bloody top secret still,” Mel reportedly retorted once the tape stopped rolling.

The Queen’s Jubilee will be recorded for television. Members of the public will be able to apply for tickets for a place on the palace grounds.
There’s been no official confirmation about the lineup for the gig yet.
Mel, now a mother of three, recently admitted that she would “love” to hit the road with her Spice Girl cohorts again. She wouldn’t rule out the possibility of the “Spice Up Your Life” singers performing at the 2012 Olympics.
“I would never say never. I think it’s possible. I’d love it if we got back together and got to go on tour.”
The Spice Girls were courted to perform in front of Queen Elizabeth at the Royal Variety Performance in 2007.
