May the best gabber win! Pippa Middleton has reportedly set off a full-fledged bidding war among American journalists hoping to land the Royal in-law’s first television interview.
You could be the first person in the world to interview Royal sister-in-law Pippa Middleton… if you’re willing to fork over a few hundred thousand dollars for the privilege.
Several television networks are bending over backwards to score the first interview with the Duchess of Cambridge‘s amply-endowed younger sis. We hear a furious bidding war has erupted over the rights to a full-length interview with Pippa, her first since she shot to worldwide fame last year — for basically having a nice-looking bottom at Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s April nups.
Middleton became an overnight celebrity when she served as the maid of honor to her sister, Kate, during the Royal Wedding. Since then, the professional party planner, 27, has been the subject of significant press attention for her style, love life, social life and more.
More than half a dozen photographers camp outside Pippa’s door and produce “300 to 400 pictures” of her daily.
Late last year, she signed a $500,000 deal with Penguin Books to write a tome about planning the perfect party.
And with a big book deal typically comes a big network television interview.

Television “rivals” Oprah Winfrey, Barbara Walters, Ellen DeGeneres and even The Today Show‘s Matt Lauer all reportedly want to be the first to chat to Pippa, The Mirror has learned. And just for good measure, the networks are offering up sums of more than $450,000 in a bid to sweeten the pot.
(The fee would likely be donated to charity, so it won’t appear as though Pippa is “cashing in” on her notoriety, insiders say.)

Middleton — who works for her parents’ mail order party business, Party Pieces — was named one of Barbara Walters‘ Most Fascinating People of 2011. A fact which would seemingly make Walters, 82, a shoo-in to lead any deal between Pippa and ABC.
But Oprah has reportedly told her staff to “pull out all the stops” to beat Babs to the gab.
Lauer allegedly hopes he’s the lucky man for the job. In 2007, Matt sat down with Prince William and Prince Harry on the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death. He also covered the Royal Wedding live from London for NBC.
The Peacock is reportedly offering an interview on Today, an appearance on Ellen and perhaps a primetime appearance to help Pippa hawk her book. ABC has allegedly promised an hour-long primetime special, as well as a slot on Good Morning America, if the beauty decides to go the Alphabet way.
It’s unclear whether Pippa is interested in a sit-down with American talkers at all. Just weeks ago, the media darling threatened to pursue legal action against the papers who have made her life miserable since her McQueen-designed maid of honor gown went viral.
