Solange: The Fashion Blogger

It looks like Bey’s sister is making a name for herself — and this time it’s in fashion. The DJ and musician is sharing her eccentric style sense with Vogue UK readers.

Solange knows style, yes she does.

DJ, singer and fashionista, Solange Knowles, is using her fashion know-how and celebrity status in her newest role as a blogger for Vogue UK. Bey’s sister will be blogging daily under the Vogue franchise “Today I’m wearing…” where she gives fellow fashionistas the opportunity to view her eccentric and playful style sense.

Solange is perfect for this new role, considering she just landed a modelling contract with Next Model Management, and she has an amazing ability to get instantly snapped at fashion shows.

In a recent interview with Vogue Italia, Solange told the fashion magazine she defines her style as “evolving, bold, unrefined and expressive.” She says that she finds fashion inspiration via other cultures.

“The colours everywhere, the colour palette of shotgun houses in New Orleans, spice in Marrakesh, nail polishes on the shelf at my favourite nail shop in Brooklyn. I just left Rwanda and have never seen colours used in such a natural and spectacular way in my life.”

And the musician isn’t just highlighting high fashion — she also includes affordable, every-day brands in her outfits. In one of her first posts, Solange shows off how she pairs couture with basic wear.

“… Dries Van Noten shoes, Aldo rings, and Illesteva glasses that I’m in love with.”

Solange also told Vogue Italia that the definition of style is simple: it’s all about individuality and being real.

“I don’t by any means consider myself the most qualified model material. I think that people tend to respond to what is real.”
