Ellen DeGeneres is fighting back against the group One Million Moms. On her side is a surprising name — conservative political commentator Bill O’Reilly.
Bill O’Reilly spoke out in defense of Ellen DeGeneres on Tuesday night’s edition of The O’Reilly Factor, calling the action taken by One Million Moms not “in the spirit of America.”
The group, in actuality only 40,000 members strong, has called for a boycott of JCPenney stores due to their hiring of openly-gay talk show host Ellen DeGeneres — a move even conservative political commentator Bill O’Reilly does not approve of.
Speaking of Ellen DeGeneres, he argued, “If you remember with the McCarthy era of the 1950s, they were trying to hunt down communist sympathizers and not let them work and put them on a blacklist… what is the difference between the McCarthy era of the ’50s and the Million Moms saying, ‘Hey, JCPenney and all you other stores, don’t you hire gay people. Don’t you dare.’ What’s the difference?”

Arguing on the side of One Million Moms sat Fox News contributor Sandy Rios, who countered the boycott is necessary in the battle for “traditional values” because Ellen has “chosen to act out her lesbian lifestyle and marry her partner and what that represents.”
“People that believe that marriage is between a man and woman and children should not be exposed and propagandized in homosexuality have a moral problem with that,” Rios said. “It’s disturbing to them. They are trying to say to JCPenney please don’t do that.”

Bill O’Reilly went on to accuse Rios of evading his argument that the group is in the wrong to actively pursue an American citizen losing their employment because of their lifestyle.
Bill O’Reilly concluded of the Ellen DeGeneres versus One Million Moms dispute, “This JCPenney thing is a witch-hunt and shouldn’t happen.”
