You can’t have an awards show that honors TV writing and not include hit shows Homeland, Modern Family and Breaking Bad.
These top TV programs managed to score big at Sunday’s Writers Guild Awards, proving why they win fans over week in and week out.
Check out what some of your favorite shows were honored for…
Modern Family, ABC’s hit show, won the comedy series award and the best episodic comedy award with “Caught in the Act.”
We wonder: Will the one with the kid dropping the F-bomb ever win anything? Now, that was funny!
Breaking Bad was celebrated as best drama series, while the season four premiere, “Box Cutter,” shared the best episodic drama award with “The Good Soldier” from Showtime’s Homeland.
Homeland also won the award for new series.
Other notable awards included HBO for the screenplays Cinema Verite and Too Big to Fail for long form original and adapted.
The Colbert Report took home the award for best comedy/variety series, while After the Academy Awards won in the comedy/variety specials category.
The Simpsons won for animation, while General Hospital represented for the daytime drama category.
Over on the big screen side, Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris won for original screenplay, while The Descendants took home the award for adapted screenplay.
