Two arrests have been made in the drug case involving the death of Amazing Race producer Jeff Rice — and one will shock you.
Ugandan police have arrested two people who they say are involved in the drug death of Amazing Race producer Jeff Rice — and one is his friend and colleague.
Kathryn Fuller, Rice’s assistant who was found unconscious at the same time his body was discovered, was charged with using narcotic drugs in violation of the National Drug Policy and Authority Act of 2000, according to the Daily Monitor.
Appearing in court this morning — recovered enough to leave the hospital for court after reports she was paralyzed on her right side — Fuller pleaded guilty and has been fined the equivalent of $400. There is no word on if the local Ugandan police will allow her to leave the country yet, but her father has flown in from South Africa to support her.

“She can regain the use of her right side, but needs to come to South Africa for treatment and to recuperate,” Stuart Fuller told The Mercury.
“She gave the police her statement; she didn’t buy (the drugs) and she has paid the price.” he said. “I am cross, extremely cross. She’s an extremely bright woman who made a mistake.”
The second arrest was of a driver accused of selling the drugs to the pair. Moses Kalanzi was apprehended on Monday on suspicion he supplied the heroin and cocaine that ultimately killed Rice.

“There was constant communication between the special hire driver and Rice on the phone about the purchase of the drugs,” police spokesperson Judith Nabakooba told The Monitor. “So we want to know the source of the drugs and how it is trafficked into the country. He has recorded a statement and investigations are ongoing.”
Kalanzi has denied the charges of manslaughter and supplying restricted drugs. He is being held in a Ugandan prison until his next court date on March 15.
