Is ABC’s Texas drama anti-Christian? Annie Potts talks GCB

Newt Gingrich is missing out on some quality television, according to GCB‘s Annie Potts. The onscreen mom is now giving conservative groups a tongue lashing!

Even though Kristin Chenoweth has already asserted that ABC‘s Texas dramedy GCBis about all of humanity more than any religion in particular — as well as “a love letter to Dallas” — former Speaker of the House and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has openly described the show as “anti-Christian bigotry… in the entertainment industry,” according to The Huffington Post.

Well, GCB actress Annie Potts is sick of it — and whipping the many conservative groups who are criticizing the show!

“Well, you know those conservatives don’t like women very much,” said Potts, according to The Huffington Post. “No they don’t. They want to take away our contraceptives and get rid of Planned Parenthood — next we will lose the right to vote… For Mr. Gingrich to say our show is anti-Christian, I can assure you [that] is the furthest thing from our creator’s intention.”

Potts insisted that the show is very American, if anything. “What other country in the whole world could do a show like this? Americans are great because we can laugh at ourselves.”

Last week on The View was where Potts first began to defend against Gingrich. “I don’t know what all the fuss is about,” she said. “I did feel that it was especially rich coming from him, that he called our little TV show un-Christian when he was carrying on an affair while he was impeaching the president for doing the same. It’s like, you know, look in the mirror honey, I think our show may be for you.”
