In the near future, you could actually be discovered and signed by Katy Perry! The singer is developing her own record label.
Good news! Soon a part of Katy Perry can be a part of your teenage dream (see what we did there?).
KP told the Hollywood Reporter her very own record label is in the works.
Well, all the other musicians are doing it… Why not?
“I’m preparing for it now,” the singer told Reporter. “And when this record label does come to fruition, I’m going to try and avoid the things that take away any fighting chance for an artist to have financial success. As people are coming to me with opportunities, I’m thinking, ‘How would I want to be treated?'”
For all you creative types out there, here is your challenge: The label is yet to be named. Ideas?
The issue with celebrity record labels, fashion lines, books and so on is the percentage of labour and effort put in by the celebrity, as well as the measure of control he or she possesses over the business. Otherwise, it’s just anybody’s game.
No doubt Perry can make a profit in the entertainment business. But if she can also maintain a degree of solicitude and equality toward her subordinates, she’ll embody that buoyant ray of sunshine for despairing musicians.
