Fans of Scotty McCreery voted him New Artist of the Year at Sunday night’s 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards — and one in particular hopes he’ll return the favor by taking her to prom!
Scotty McCreery is set to graduate high school this June, and has announced he’s off to college in the fall — but will he partake in the teenage rite of passage we call prom? One girl hopes so, and that he’ll be her date!
Brooke Dutridge is doing her best to make sure Scotty McCreery hears her prom request. A Sylvania Southview High School student, Brooke is also looking forward to graduation, with prom fast approaching. What’s special about Brooke’s story is that she suffers from Full Body Reflex Neurovascular Dystrophy (RND/RSD), and lives with severe chronic pain.
Friends and family of Brooke Dutridge are helping the teen reach out to Scotty McCreery in hopes they can reach the American Idol winner and arrange the date of her dreams.
“It’s not because he’s a celebrity or anything,” Brooke said of why she wants to go to prom with Scotty McCreery. “What I notice about him is he seems really down to earth and he seems like a really sweet guy. He doesn’t seem like most guys that you especially find around here.”

Of her condition, which developed suddenly, Brooke commented, “Really with this whole thing… I don’t know, it’s just ‘keep positive’ because negative just brings you down.”
