They may have lost big on TV, but one reality couple is winning big at love. These two Biggest Loser contestants are getting married this weekend and have overcome huge odds on their way to the altar.
Sam Poueu and Stephanie Anderson found love on the small screen while shedding their large statures on Biggest Loser, and they are making it official this weekend — despite an accident that nearly took the groom’s life just a short while ago.
“With what has happened over the last seven months, we’ve had to refocus our energy and time,” the pair wrote on their wedding website. “Now here we are just a short time away from our BIG day and we cannot be more anxious and excited to join together as husband and wife.”
This joyful day almost was not to be. Poueu almost died in September after falling several stories trying to get back into a friend’s apartment when he was accidentally locked out.
“[He] attempted to climb down the fire escape ladder to drop down into the fourth floor balcony and slipped,” his family and Anderson said in a statement at the time. “The San Francisco Fire Department responded within minutes thanks to a neighbor’s immediate call.”

After suffering “many serious internal injuries and a trauma to the right side of his head” Poueu was lucky to recover.
“Sam has made positive and encouraging strides since his accident. Since being admitted to the hospital, Sam has stayed strong through three surgeries,” continued the family statement. “To date, many of his internal injuries are on the healing mend.”
“He still has a long road ahead and is already a true testament to the power of prayer. Our faith remains that God will heal him completely according to His will. We are thankful for the miracles we have already witnessed in his recovery and are thankful for the dedicated medical personnel attending to him.”
Best wishes to the happy couple on a long and healthy life together!
