Potter mania! 2012 MTV Movie Award nominees

The MTV Movie Awards are heading to a TV near you. The nominees for the 2012 ceremony have been revealed and they include veterans Harry Potter and Twilight, as well as newbies The Hunger Games and Bridesmaids.

It’s that time again. Nothing says summer like the MTV Movie Awards. Tuesday morning, the network revealed this year’s nominees, which include films and performances from 2011 to early 2012.

As expected, Movie Awards mainstay Twilight earned a couple nominations including movie of the year and best kiss for Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Kristen Stewart (Bella). But their MTV reign may be coming to an end.

Over the past few years, Twilight has dominated the show leaving some viewers upset over the lack of variety. But don’t worry, MTV has heard your prayers and is mixing things up. It’s time for other films to shine.

The final entry in the Harry Potter series, The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is nominated for movie of the year, best male and female performances, best cast, best fight and best kiss. While newcomer The Hunger Games gets some love for leading lady Jennifer Lawrence (best female performance), Josh Hutcherson (best male performance) and Liam Hemsworth (breakthrough performance).
