Summer is upon us. And this weekend kicks off the 2012 blockbuster movie season. That’s why Sony Pictures has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming comic book film, The Amazing Spider-Man.
The movie takes Peter Parker back to high school, and promises the untold story of the hero’s origin. British actor Andrew Garfield (who was recently nominated for a Tony Award) plays Peter, a sarcastic teen who gets bit by a radioactive spider.

In this big screen adaptation, Spider-Man will go head-to-head with Dr. Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans). If the name sounds familiar it’s because he briefly appeared in the previous Spider-Man trilogy. But those films highlighted his human form, while this one showcases his mutant alter-ego, The Lizard.

Another major change in The Amazing Spider-Man is Peter’s love interest. Instead of focusing on the raven-haired Mary Jane Watson. The film charts his relationship with Gwen Stacy, who’s played by a very blonde Emma Stone.
