Is Amber Riley leaving Glee? Not so fast

Amber Riley set Glee fans buzzing with a tweet insinuating she will be leaving the show. Is it true? Read on to find out.

Graduation day is coming soon to Glee, and while it appears that at least some of the seniors will be back in some capacity next season, nothing has been confirmed yet. But one of the stars may have let the cat out of the bag on Twitter Wednesday — or did she?

Amber Riley made Glee fans freak the heck out when she tweeted that she was done with her character Mercedes Jones. “That’s a wrap on Amber Riley! Just closed a chapter in my life, the only thing I’ve known day in and day out for three years.”

“I’m going to miss the whole Glee family, seeing them everyday! I have so many brothers and sisters now :),” she wrote. “But I am looking forward to a much needed and deserved summer vacation! SCHOOL’S OUT Glee Kids! Let’s play!”

“Stay tuned to see what’s next for Mercedes ;),” Riley finished.

Her spoiler didn’t sit well with fans, and probably not with show writers and producers, either. Riley tried to backtrack today, writing, “My tweet apparently has been misconstrued.”

“I was not confirming I was leaving the show. Just stating that I would miss being in the classroom everyday with the cast and that would be changing. Thanks for the support guys :)”

“That’s the good and bad thing about twitter,” she continued. “It can be used to extinguish rumors but it also spreads them like wildfire!”

Riley’s rep had no comment.
