Ben Affleck hopes for a happy Mother’s Day for all

Ben Affleck‘s life is filled with loving, capable mothers — including his wife, Jennifer Garner. Find out his hopes for all mother’s in this Mother’s Day video.

Ben Affleck knows a thing or two about good mothers: He has three beautiful — and happy! — children with wife Jennifer Garner. However, his work with women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has also shown him that millions of mothers don’t receive the recognition or help they deserve.

Affleck is hoping to change all that with his work with the Eastern Congo Initiative. The actor posted a Mother’s Day video on his Facebook page that shows off these deserving mothers — and also shows us how we can help.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing Moms in my life. Please share this video for the Mothers and Grandmothers in your lives in honor of their sacrifices, selflessness and courage,” he wrote on his post, adding more in a video message.

“I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to moms in my life: My mom Chris and my amazing wife Jennifer who is an incredible, spectacular, world-class mom!” Affleck gushed. “And I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms that I’ve met in the Democratic Republic of the Congo who are in this video that I hope you’ll watch. I urge you to share it, post to Facebook, to celebrate all of the moms in the world including the ones in your life working at the hardest job that there is, every single day. If you feel so inclined, you can contribute to some of the cost that you’ll see in the video and go to EasternCongo.org.”

Affleck is no stranger to the plight of the Congolese people: The actor has traveled to Eastern Africa several times over the past couple of years to work with the people and raise awareness, most recently with Sen. John McCain’s wife, Cindy McCain.

“People are dying, really dying and have been for a long time,” Affleck told ABC News earlier this year. “15 years, three-plus million people have died. I don’t know that I can make any more argument about why you should pay attention to this.”
