Britney Spears made her Texas debut as part of The X Factor team on Thursday, but is she already having problems? Find out what happened when she left the judges table.
Britney Spears reportedly wants to “prove the naysayers wrong” by serving as a judge on the second season of The X Factor, but her actions during the first day of auditions might already spell trouble.
The 30-year-old singer seemed upbeat before auditions started.
“Just arrived for @TheXFactorUSA auditions – hope everyone is ready! Still waiting on @SimonCowell of course….” she tweeted Thursday morning.
However, TMZ reported that the singer walked off the stage when a performer completely butchered her song “Hold It Against Me.” A photo from the audience showed Spears’ seat empty while the others sat there — and she was reportedly gone for at least four auditions.
So, meltdown time already? Not so, she said.
“#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!” she tweeted. “Texas has a lot of talent – seriously! Loving @TheXFactorUSA auditions so far… (at X Factor).”
As for her judging, Spears clashed with the other new judge — Demi Lovato — early on. The pair disagreed about a 14-year-old singer — Spears just loved him, but Lovato was not a fan.
John Legend thinks Britney Spears and Demi Lovato suck >>
“I think that you have a great voice and your tone was great,” Lovato said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “But, I don’t really know where you fit. I don’t know what’s going to set you apart from other musicians who are boys. So, I think you just have to find out what makes you special and what separates you from all the other teenage boys in this industry.”
Spears was much more nicey-nice.
“I think you can be bigger than the next Justin Bieber,” she said to audience cheers. “I feel like your runs are amazing. And I do feel like with a little more training, you could actually [inaudible] better presentation, but I see what’s there. And you’re very gifted. Thank you.”
So, we’re pumped to see the two divas butt heads this season. But, will we see the real Britney Spears? Probably not, thanks to the constant presence of her fiancé and handler, Jason Trawick.
“She is anxious to prove to everyone that she isn’t just a ditzy blonde and she is hunkered down with [Trawick] who will be with her at all times during the auditions and filming,” a source told RadarOnline earlier this week.
“Britney has been asking a lot of questions about the process and is seeking advice from Simon Cowell about how she can be the best judge possible. She is aware of the comments that Howard Stern made about her recently, saying the only reason people would be tuning in to watch her is because she is a train wreck,” the source continued.
Well, a train wreck would make for good television, but we love Britney and want her to triumph on the show.
