Oh, how we’ve missed the sweet sounds of Maroon 5. It seems like it’s been forever since we heard anything new from the band — their last record, Overexposed, was released in 2012 — but now we know everything is going to be OK.

Maroon 5’s new track, “Maps,” is currently available for streaming online and can now be purchased on iTunes. The single is the first off the upcoming album V, scheduled to hit the shelves (virtual and otherwise) on Sept. 2. Check it out:

Isn’t it amazing? This track is not as poppy as the songs were on Overexposed, and we’re definitely picking up that quintessential Maroon 5 sound à la the band’s debut album, Songs about Jane. It’s like a cross between “She Will Be Loved” and “Moves Like Jagger,” no? We love it.

The band’s fifth album (the record’s title makes more sense now, eh?) is finally bringing the fellas back together again in full force, since keyboardist Jesse Carmichael took a break from the group and was not involved in the recording of Overexposed. It’s safe to say Maroon 5 is officially back!

We can’t wait to hear what the rest of the album has to offer, but this is a very promising beginning. What do you think of “Maps”? Yay or nay?
