If you like to blend in and not be seen, you might like to take a look at this upcoming movie based on the popular book The Perks of Being a Wallflower, starring Emma Watson.
The very moving and emotional book, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is getting the cinema treatment this fall when the movie releases wide in theaters September 14. But for now, all we can see of our wallflower is this hot trailer showing us how Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Mae Whitman live their mundane high school lives where everything seems to be less than rosy.
Interview: Emma Watson talks about going from Harry Potter to Wallflower >>
Though a newcomer to Hollywood, Lerman, who plays Charlie (the main character and narrator, if you’ve read the book), already has quite a few titles under his belt: 3:10 to Yuma, The Number 23 and The Butterfly Effect.
Hey, freshman toad!
His journey of being the introverted high school student with more than a few adolescent problems is one of pain, heartache and friendship.
In this trailer, audiences see that the letter-writing therapy that helps Charlie get through this tough time in the book is also in the film. Instead of diary entries, which are what a reader might typically find in this kind of book, Charlie writes to an anonymous friend about his problems.
When he starts his first day of school, the only person interested in talking to him seems to be his English teacher, played by Paul Rudd. Charlie says it himself: “If my English teacher is the only friend I make today that would be sort of depressing…”
But hey, you’ve got to start somewhere, right?
Come on, let’s be psychos together
When Charlie meets Sam (played by Watson), the gorgeous senior and total untouchable babe, his life changes forever. They become friends, and that’s where the perks start to come in. Charlie’s ability to observe and Sam’s ability to live life seem to be the perfect match. Can they make it through high school together?
