It really is about all the small things, right? We are totally forgetting about our age again and getting pretty psyched for a brand new Blink-182 album, which is officially in the making.

Tom DeLonge has confirmed the big scoop on his Instagram on Monday with a throwback photo of himself, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, along with the caption, “Rehearsals start today… and yes there will be a new album #SorryForTheWait #Blink.”

How adorable are those fellas? The last record Blink-182 released was Neighborhoods in 2011. We’re not going to lie, it’s pretty tough not getting excited for a new Blink album; they’re just such an iconic band now. When you think of the late ’90s and early 2000s, Blink-182 should be in your essentials pack. If not, then get out.

Robin Thicke’s “Get Her Back” music video is a little freaky >>

So, we must all join to celebrate this upcoming record in the only suitable way — like it’s 1999. Why that year in particular? Because that’s when Enema of the State (one of their best records) came out, duh.

1. Slap on that skater shirt and kicks

You have to look the part, meaning you should be going for a rebellious, perpetually unemployed kind of vibe. Skater shirt, some Vans, a chain wallet and some ripped jeans ought to do the trick. Now, you are qualified to listen to Blink-182.

2. Briefly freak out about Y2K

If we’re going for an authentic 1999 feel, you have to freak out about the end of the world before getting excited about the new Blink-182 album. So, load up on some canned food, cry a little and then listen to “What’s My Age Again?”.

3. Stroke your Blink-182 poster, while jamming to “Bailamos”

We all secretly loved Enrique Iglesias when his English-crossover song “Bailamos” hit the radio in 1999. So, let the rhythm take you over while you stare deep into Travis Barker’s eyes.

4. Hold your Harry Potter books and cry

Back in 1999, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets finally hit the shelves in North America… but now we know how that story ends and it’s all over. So, maybe put on “I Miss You” and remember those days, when Harry Potter seemed like a never-ending adventure. Kind of bittersweet, but still very much like 1999.

OK, now back to reality. We’re very excited about the new Blink-182 record, how about you? We hope some naked singing is involved, because that’s just the way it has to be.
