This Stevie Nicks new old single “Lady” is beautiful

Stevie Nicks is taking us down memory lane, and it’s amazing. The singer has released a new (old) single off her record 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, and we love it.

Answer this question for us: When was the last time you heard a new old Stevie Nicks song? Sure, the legendary singer releases new music from time to time, but her latest album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, features tracks from unreleased demos Nicks recorded between 1969 and 1987 (with a few exceptions). Hence, new old songs. Amazing or what?

The first single off the record, “The Dealer,” was released on Aug. 5, and Nicks dropped the second single, “Lady,” on Monday. It is phenomenal. It’s the Stevie Nicks we all love, with thoughtful lyrics wrapped into a ballad. This doesn’t happen every day, y’all!

There’s something very nostalgic about these songs. The fact that they were made from demos Nicks recorded back in the day perfectly encapsulates the singer during a historic period in her life. For example, “Lady” was written during the making of Buckingham Nicks in the 1970s, before Nicks had even joined Fleetwood Mac. Maybe we’re being super nerdy about this, but that is pretty cool.

The 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault record is hitting the shelves on vinyl on Sept. 29 and on Oct. 7 everywhere else; it can already be pre-ordered. A deluxe version will be available for purchase, with bonus songs and a booklet of unpublished photos. Will you be picking up a copy?
