Whoomp! There it is! Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting the Oscars in 2015, so everyone’s day just got a little brighter and a whole lot better. Cue celebratory dance.
First reported by Variety, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences quickly issued a statement confirming the amazing news of Harris taking on hosting duties for the 87th annual Academy Awards.

“We are thrilled to have Neil host the Oscars,” stated producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “We have known him his entire adult life, and we have watched him explode as a great performer in feature films, television and stage. To work with him on the Oscars is the perfect storm, all of his resources and talent coming together on a global stage.”
Harris has previously hosted the Emmy and Tony awards; this will be his first time hosting the Oscars. The How I Met Your Mother actor took to Instagram to announce the big news to his fans in a typical hilarious Neil Patrick Harris way:
