Never have we considered Sesame Street anything other than a kids’ show. Christoph Waltz’s rendition of the show’s theme song on Jimmy Kimmel Live! has now changed everything.
How do these people even come up with this stuff? On Tuesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Inglourious Basterds actor Christoph Waltz performed a rather twisted and dark version of the Sesame Street theme song… It changed us.
1 Reason to watch Laggies this weekend? Keira Knightley, duh
Preluding the memorable rendition of the song, Waltz revealed to Kimmel that he loves Sesame Street and still watches it, describing it as “fresh, raw, full of despair, poignant and deep.” Yeah, we were wondering what kind of Sesame Street this guy watches too. The actor even explained that “the theme song alone, it haunts me.” See for yourself:

That’s not exactly how you remember it, right? We will never be able to watch Sesame Street again without reading into it too much. What if Big Bird is harbouring a drug problem? What if Elmo uses his laugh as a defence mechanism? What if the Grouch is not just a pessimist but is actually depressed? Everything we have ever known is on the brink of oblivion. Thanks, Christoph!
4 Things we secretly want to see on reality TV
Well, as we sink into deep thought and reflection, tell us what you thought of Waltz’s performance. Isn’t he hilarious?
