We laughed, we cried, we never wanted the BET Awards to end! Jay Z interrupted Kanye’s victory speech, Mariah Carey

Sunday evening, the stars hit the red carpet at the 2012 BET Awards. The ceremony attracted some of the biggest names in Hollywood such as Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Nicki Minaj, and the foursome of Beyonce and Jay-Z alongside Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.

This year’s event featured a comeback performance from veteran R&B crooner D’Angelo, who made his first TV appearance in 12 years.

He returned to the spotlight with a reprise of his 2000 hit “Untitled (How Does it Feel)” followed by his new single, “Sugar Daddy.”

Other memorable moments included the emotional Whitney Houston tribute that brought out Monica, Brandy, Chaka Khan and the late singer’s mother and brother Cissy and Gary Houston.

On a lighter note, the evening’s funniest moment came courtesy of Jay-Z, who pulled a “Kanye” on Kanye West. When the duo accepted the award for Video of the Year, West began to speak, and Jay-Z quickly interjected, “Excuse me Kanye, I’m gonna let you continue, but…”

It was a hilarious nod to West’s infamous interruption of Taylor Swift‘s speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. It was a joke that everyone in the audience responded to with thunderous laughter.
