Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson leaves jail after “head-butting” wife

As of Monday morning, the over-the-top football star formerly known as Chad Ochocinco had been released from jail, but he’s also out of a job, after he is accused of head-butting his wife, reality TV star Evelyn Lozada.

The Buzz – Chad Ochocinco Arrested and Dropped from Dolphins
Chad Ochocinco has been dropped from the Miami Dolphins, after being arrested for allegedly head butting his wife Evelyn Lozado.

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and his wife, Evelyn Lozada of Basketball Wives fame, have been married for little more than a month but they’re already making headlines for more than their flamboyant lifestyles, following a nasty fight that landed the NFL star in the slammer and Lozada in the hospital.

It all started Saturday evening, when Lozada reportedly found a Walgreens receipt for condoms in the trunk of their car as she carried shopping bags into their Davie, Fla., home, according to New York Daily News.

“As they were talking, Johnson became upset and without (her) permission grabbed her and head-butted her,” the Daily News notes, citing a police report obtained by TMZ.

“According to NFL.com, Lozada emerged from the car with a ‘pretty good-sized’ laceration on her head and was later taken to the emergency room at the West Side Regional Hospital, where she was treated.”

The police report goes on to describe a cut about 3 inches long in the center of Lozada’s forehead.

In typical “he said-she said” fashion, the football player who formerly went by “Ochocinco” (to pay homage to his No. 85 jersey), contends Lozada actually head-butted him.

The Miami Dolphins were quick to act on the domestic battery charge, releasing Johnson from the team on Sunday.

The following announcement was posted on the team’s site: “The Miami Dolphins terminated the contract of WR Chad Johnson, the team announced today.”

“They have been battling even before they got married,” a “Lozada associate” told the Chicago Sun-Times.

The couple announced their engagement in 2010.

The Sun-Times is also reporting the rocky pair with a penchant for reality TV (Johnson appeared on Dancing with the Stars), have been working on their own series.

“No word on how Johnson’s arrest over the weekend… will impact that show,” the daily notes.
