French icon Vanessa Paradis finally reveals her new thoughts on love in the wake of her public separation from Johnny Depp in the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar.
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis were arguably one of Hollywood’s chicest couples. Dedicated to their artistic talents for years before fame hit the pair, Depp and Paradis seemed to rise above the celebrity label. In the wake ofDepp’s starring role in the blockbuster Disney film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Paradis shunned the American spotlight and kept to her French roots.
Yet the scrutiny of fame clearly weighed on Depp and Paradis — they were hardly photographed together in 2011 — and their relationship finally crumbled in June 2012 after reports of Depp’s alleged indiscretions. At that time in early summer, Paradis preferred to remain silent for the sake of her and Depp’s two children — Lily Rose, 12, and Jack, 9 — but Vanessa recently chose to reveal her personal thoughts of love and life to Harper’s Bazaar in their September 2012 issue.
“Love is the strongest and most fragile thing we have in life,” says Paradis, 39. “Nothing is ever for sure, but when something in love doesn’t work from the beginning, it’s never going to work. Don’t push it.” Paradis doesn’t explicitly mention Depp but it seems like a clear reference to their lost love. Vanessa goes on and hints that her relationship with Depp might have been strained for some time despite their close connection.
“When you meet the love of your life, it’s just obvious and natural and easier.” Paradis adds, “You keep learning all the time. Sometimes you could be in an unhappy relationship; you are very much in love with someone, but it’s making you unhappy and you think things can change and you can work it out.”
