Maleficent is staying in the family. Disney announced today that Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will be playing the heroine in the movie, in which her mom plays the evil queen.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s daughter, Vivienne, has just been added to the Maleficent cast, acting opposite of Mom Jolie.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children, and they work hard to keep them out of the public eye.
But today they announced that they are very intentionally putting one of them directly into the public eye.
According to Reuters, “Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, daughter of actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, will soon follow in the footsteps of her famous parents, appearing in Disney movie Maleficent, the studio said on Wednesday.”
The 4-year-old’s mother is playing the (evil) title character of the movie, and Vivienne will play none other than the heroine, albeit a young version of her.
The movie is based on the Disney classic Sleeping Beauty.
“Vivienne will portray a young version of Princess Aurora, who is cursed to sleep until awoken by kiss from a handsome prince,” said Reuters.
Vivienne is the twin sister of Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt. The twins were born in France in 2008. Parents Angelina and Brad still have a home in France and have been spending time there recently.
The grown-up Princess Aurora will be played by Elle Fanning, younger sister of actress Dakota Fanning. Vivienne’s part in the movie will not be a large one, but Princess Aurora will still be treated as a major character.
“Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne will play a minor role as the child version of Princess Aurora, opposite her mother in Maleficent,” Disney told Reuters. “The live-action film explores the origins of Disney’s most iconic villain, Maleficent, and what led her to curse Princess Aurora.”
The 14-year-old Elle Fanning may be the younger Fanning sister, but she has been acting since she was a baby and is no stranger to film. She has even acted alongside Jolie’s husband Brad Pitt in 2008’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
There were no other details released today about Vivienne’s part, but if she is anything like her parents, acting will come to her naturally.
