If you loved Fifty Shades of Grey: Laugh at these parodies

If you’re one of the millions of people who has devoured the erotica novel Fifty Shades of Grey (whether you’ll admit it or not), as well as the second and third book in the series, and need another way to get your “Fifty Shades fix” until the movie comes out, it’s time to pick up a parody. Get ready to laugh!

Fifty Shames of Earl Grey
by Fanny Merkin aka Andrew Shaffer

The original manuscript for Fifty Shames of Earl Grey was written by Fanny Merkin, aka Andrew Shaffer, in just 10 days. It was immediately snapped up by a publisher, who wanted to jump on it not knowing how long the Fifty Shades of Grey craze would be hot. Well as we all now know, the erotic novel is still on fire, which is exactly why a book like this is just what the doctor ordered for fans of the uber-successful trilogy.

“Anna Steal likes her men like she likes her tea… Earl Grey!”

This is the one-liner to describe this laugh-out-loud funny parody of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s lines like this one that make the book such a fun read. Merkin doesn’t stray much from the plot of the original book but does throw in some unexpected plot points, including a fighter jet and a dinosaur.

Fifty Shades of Beige
by Reid Mockery

This is the No. 1 Fifty Shades of Grey parody. It’s a mini-novel, available as an e-book, that you can read in a matter of hours. The laughs are frequent, but be forewarned: There is explicit language, and some of the sex acts are, as described by the author, bizarre.

This parody also stays true to the basic plot of Fifty Shades of Grey, but the main difference is that the protagonist (whose name I’ll leave out of this description as it’s R-rated) takes on the dominant role in the relationship with Bobby Beige. You’ll have fun reading this story that pokes fun at all the right places in the story, even if you have to skip over some of the raunchy parts.

Fifty Shades of Garbage
by Allie Beck

The title alone gives you an idea of how funny this e-book is. This Fifty Shades of Grey parody takes a different approach than most. In Beck’s story,  husband and wife Marcia and Joe attempt to be Anna and Christian, the main characters in the original novel.

Marcia admits that she’s into “mommy porn,” while her husband acts as if he scorns it — but then listens to a pirated version during his morning commute. Marcia and Joe embark on an adventure that involves, among other things, vampires and dumpsters. This quick read will definitely entertain you and leave you wanting more “dumpster erotica,” whether it’s a parody of Fifty Shades of Grey or not.
