Goodbye, Guidos: MTV cancels Jersey Shore

MTV is pulling the plug on Jersey Shore after season six. What are we going to do now?

The Buzz – Jersey Shore Canceled: What’s Next for the Stars?
After it’s upcoming sixth season, Jersey Shore will be canceled! So, what’s up next for the stars of the reality show?

Sorry, aspiring Guidos: Jersey Shore is coming to an end after the upcoming season, MTV confirmed Thursday. The final season — set to debut on Oct. 4 — will chronicle everything from The Situation’s rehab to Snooki’s pregnancy.

The new mom acknowledged the cancellation on Twitter.

Snooki’s birth will appear on TV >>

“Yes, sadly it’s true. This upcoming season of Jersey Shore will be our last. But it was fricken INSANE. I will always love my roomies!” she wrote.

“Amen,” Pauly D added.

We suspect the cast is ready for the show to be over, considering that the crew each has their own side projects going on: The Situation is currently competing on the British version of Celebrity Big Brother; Pauly D has his successful DJ career; and Sammi Sweetheart is a burgeoning fashion designer.

Plus, we’re not really sure where the show can go from here — there’s only so much GTL we can watch before it gets old.

At least we still have this last season — and don’t assume for one minute that the network won’t milk it for all it’s worth. They’re already planning a special, Gym, Tan, Look Back, scheduled for Thursday Sept. 6 after the Video Music Awards.

Also, there’s already talk of a televised wedding between Snooki and her baby daddy, Jionni LaValle.

“I would love to have a Snooki-Jionni wedding,” MTV exec Chris Linn told Entertainment Weekly. “That could be amazing.”

We’re already going through withdrawals. At least we’ll still have the Real Housewives of New Jersey to give us our weekly dose of Jersey drama.
