The Office writer and fan favorite Mindy Kaling is spreading her wings and flying a new network this fall with her sitcom, The Mindy Project.
Synopsis:
We have to admit our favorite moments on The Office were when Kelly Kapoor was obnoxiously nagging Ryan Howard, making out with him, or pretending she was pregnant. We were heartbroken to learn she was the next of our favorite characters to leave the show in the fall — I mean, come on! We can only take so much. The loss induced a fanwide depression, which only got darker with the news of Dwight Schrute leaving and sweet memories of Michael Scott.
But, not to fear. There is light at the end of the tunnel, people! The Mindy Project is getting reviews that suggest that this girl knows what she’s doing. The Mindy Project joins the fresh New Girl era of comedy on Fox this fall and follows the life of romantic OB/GYN Dr. Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) on her search for love (while maintaining her professional life).
Kaling’s character brings Bridget Jones to sitcom — romantic comedy lovers rejoice for this weekly pleasure! Also joining the way-promising cast is Anna Camp from True Blood (playing Gwen) and Chris Messina (playing Danny).
The best part is, everyone can relate to this one. The road to finding love often has many “That’ll be funny one day…” moments and awkward bumps along the way, and we can’t think of anyone better than Kaling to go down that road for us.
We are putting our money on Mindy this fall. The awkward laughs start Sept. 25 on Fox after the season premiere of New Girl.
