Sage Stallone’s cause of death announced

When the 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone died suddenly in July, it came as a surprise to everyone. But now that his family and friends have a reason, they can begin the healing process.

It has been almost two months since the death of Sylvester Stallone’s son Sage, but the coroner finally announced his cause of death on Thursday.

“After conducting an autopsy as well as a full toxicology screen, the coroner cited atherosclerotic coronary artery disease as the cause of death, and said that the drug test was negative except for a small, ‘sub-therapeutic” level of hydrocodone, more commonly known as Vicodin,” said People.

In normal-person speak, the coroner is saying that Sage Stallone did not die of a drug overdose as originally thought, but rather heart disease.

Friends of the younger Stallone told People that Sage was not like his father in his athletic personality. They said he very rarely went to the gym and that he often ate at fast-food restaurants, smoked cigarettes and drank soda.

“They also said he routinely took various prescription medications,” according to People. “Los Angeles police said they found large empty prescription bottles at Sage’s home on July 13 while investigating his death.”

There had been reports that Sage was a drug dealer, but the police department has not mentioned more on the subject. Sylvester Stallone was silent about his son’s death until he started to promote his new movie, The Expendables 2.

“It’s tough. It’s very tough… it’s a horrible situation,” he told ABC News.

Sylvester Stallone did not seem to be dealing well, and his Expendables co-stars were doing everything they could to be there for him.

“Time, hopefully, will heal, and you try to get through it, but it’s just something. It’s a reality of life,” Stallone said. “I think it’s important to get back and start reliving your life. Otherwise, you can go into a spiral.”

According to People, the coroner is expected to release the full report on Sage Stallone’s death next week.

The Expendables 2 came out on top at the box office again this last weekend, its second weekend out.
