Kim Kardashian said many might disagree with her dream of getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. But it turns out the star isn’t a matter of taste — just a hard-and-fast rule laid down by Hollywood.
Kim Kardashian has been in our lives for at least a few years now, and the reality TV star feels comfortable enough to talk about how big a star she has become. However, no matter what she accomplishes on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, there is one goal she has that cannot be accomplished, at least not until she ventures out of that show.
Talking with V Magazine about how she would love to be given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she said she knows many would disagree, but that she would “love to break that mold,” said the Hollywood Reporter.
But Kardashian’s trek to gain that star is not about anyone disagreeing (at least not at this point) but is not going to happen because of the actual rule set forth by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
“Part of criteria in being honored is receiving awards such as Emmy’s, SAG Awards, Oscars etc. in the category of Television, Live Stage Performance or Motion Pictures,” the rep said, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “They have to have a career in the business of acting for five years or more.”
While Kardashian’s first role was in Disaster Movie four years ago, she is far from having had an acting career. Besides her family’s show, she has done a few guest roles in shows like CSI: NY and Drop Dead Diva, as well as a part in a Tyler Perry film. But for Kardashian to be given a star, she would have to really put herself into securing more spots.
Kim Kardashian is a Drop-Dead Diva!
But weirder things have happened. The Emmy Awards have a category for Best Outstanding Reality Program, an award that is barely over a decade old. Hollywood has been known to adjust to changing times, and the city of Hollywood might change before Kim Kardashian decides on a full-time acting career.
However, the rep for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce told the Hollywood Reporter this probably won’t happen anytime soon.
“Can’t really say if reality stars will ever be eligible. Not on our radar right now.”
