The Dawson’s Creek generation still has the insatiable need for drama, and CW knows that. The network — home of Gossip Girl and The Vampire Diaries — is still creating some of the freshest and most addictive drama for all generations to enjoy. Combine that with the universal love for Grey’s Anatomy and ER (a proper excuse for admiring Patrick Dempsey’s and George Clooney’s anatomy) and you have a potential hit. Following in Hart of Dixie’s footsteps and time slot, the latest show to join the doctor drama sensation is Emily Owens, M.D.
Synopsis:
TV’s newest doctor, Emily Owens (played by the talented Marnie Gummer), may have earned her long-awaited dream gig as an intern at the prestigious Denver Medical Hospital, but she hasn’t quite left her high school behind yet. In fact, it’s following her, like high school always tends to do. It isn’t long into her internship that she realizes her former high school arch-nemesis and personal bully Cassandra Kopelson (Aja Naomi King) scored the same dream gig under the same doctor. Back in high school, Owens earned the nickname “pits” — we’ll let you use your imagination on that one. Needless to say, no one wants their shy and gawky past haunting them in their professional life, especially when your oh-so-dreamy med-school crush works at the same hospital. Will Rider (Justin Hartley) is Owens’ gorgeous best friend, confidant and, of course, secret crush. Guess who has her hands all over him by the end of the first episode? Cassandra.
