With the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards fast approaching, we felt inspired to take a walk down memory lane (or, in this case, the red carpet) to uncover 10 of last year’s biggest fashion faux pas. C’mon ladies, you can do better… or, at the very least, you can’t do much worse!
Phoebe Price >
Phoebe, Phoebe, Phoebe… if you weren’t already on the D-list, this bruise-hued embroidered mess of a dress would most definitely have landed you there. If Cruella de Vil had a sea-dwelling cousin, this is kind of what we imagine she’d look like. P.S. The feathery creature attacking your cranium doesn’t help your case.

Listen, we think Grey’s Anatomy actress Loretta Devine is… well, divine. Normally. Unfortunately, this emerald green frock is anything but fabulous from the waist up. Nominated this year as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Loretta needs to step it up a notch — particularly when it comes to propping up her own woefully unsupported anatomy.

Jayma Mays >
Sure, Jayma Mays is a total doll. But in this dowdy pink lace and tulle number, she looks like a throwback Barbie circa the 1960s. If she gets rid of the fluorescent fuchsia lipstick and dons a dress more befitting of a fun young actress like herself, then we’ll change our tune and start singing the Glee star’s praises.

My best friend once wore a midriff-baring ensemble quite similar to Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Pucci two-piece. It was considered fashion forward — when she wore it to our junior prom back in the day. Gwynie looks gorg as always, but this getup is a bit too belly-dancer-meets-Morticia-Addams for our taste.

Paz de la Huerta >
Ay-chi-wa-wa! Perhaps this outfit is so jarring because the soft pink shade of the dress clashes with the ex-Boardwalk Empire actress‘ super-saturated spray tan. Not to mention the messy comb-over and dull silver lipstick making her look like she’s auditioning for a remake of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

There’s no denying Olivia Munn is one hot dish. Much to our dismay, though, this Hulk-green gown has her looking like one hot Petri dish. If any article of clothing is ill-fitting enough to make a body as bangin’ as Olivia’s look less than stellar, it should be banned for everything other than the occasional tacky-clothes-themed Christmas party.

Taraji P. Henson >
Taraji P. Henson has been known to make magic on the red carpet — remember that heavenly bright white, V-neck number she wore to the 15th Annual SAG Awards? The sheer (hello, everything!) metallic dress she sported at last year’s Emmys, however, was far more tragic than it was magic.

Gazing at Julianna Margulies in this corseted Armani Privé dress, it crosses my mind that she does indeed look like a good wife… to the leader of an intergalactic legion. Maybe she was going for the Battlestar Galactica look the oddly-jeweled top gave her. Or maybe she has a young child who just got all hopped up and went bat-sh** crazy with a BeDazzler.

Katie Holmes >
We get it — she was trying to go for that whole Grecian goddess feel. What she got, though, was something so sporty it appeared as though she stitched a skirt to the bottom of her best running tank and slapped a sparkly belt around the middle. Since ditching controlling spouse Tom Cruise, she’s already begun emerging from her fashion catatonia, so we’d love to see her go all-out glam this year.

It was no laughing matter when hilarious Parks and Recreation actress Amy Poehler sauntered down the red carpet in this midnight blue metallic dress last year. She’s up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, so here’s hoping she rocks something sexy and sassy — like, for instance, something that doesn’t have Michelle Duggar sleeves.
