Britney Spears’ demands for The X Factor: No booze!

Britney Spears is staging a comeback with her gig on The X Factor — and the suits behind the show plan for it to stay that way by keeping her away from alcohol.

The Buzz – Britney Spears: No Alcohol or Pretty People on X Factor Set!
The X Factor season premiere was met with rave reviews, but the behind-the-scenes staff on the show may feel differently about America’s favorite Pop Princess.

A judge declared Britney Spears a “habitual, frequent and continuous” user of alcohol and drugs during her 2007 meltdown and subsequent breakdown. He ordered her to have random drug and alcohol tests as a part of seeing her two boys. It sounds like that order is still enforced, either through the court or her handlers, judging from her rider requirements for The X Factor.

“Very important: We require you to empty the minibars of all alcohol,” her handlers put in her hotel riders, according to US Weekly. “And no gifts of wine or any other alcoholic beverages, please.”

The demand is very similar to what backup dancers were reportedly required to sign on the set of her 2011 music video “Till The World Ends.”

“Contractor acknowledges that it is essential that [Britney] not be exposed to any alcohol, drugs, or controlled substances,” a contract read, according to sources.

This makes us sad. Don’t get us wrong: We’re happy she’s abstaining from alcohol, but is she still that mentally fragile that she cannot be trusted to be alone with it? That — plus Simon Cowell‘s confession that she did have a panic attack on the first day of The X Factor filming — makes us think her cool, calm and collected demeanor is just her being controlled like a puppet.

Then again, she’s made great strides under her conservatorship and we’d hate to see her regress to her head-shaving days. We’d hate for her to become more inspiration for another Gwyneth Paltrow movie.

“You see a lot of these themes in real life, while I was writing the script a lot of those things that were happening with Britney Spears were very public,” Country Strong writer Shana Feste told FOX News in 2011. “She was shaving her head, and I saw how fixated we are as a society in building people up to see their downfall and then the pleasure we take in building them up again.”

Yikes.
