Christina Aguilera shares album details with fans

Fans have been anxiously awaiting new music from Xtina, and Monday they will get a chance to see her new video on her show The Voice.

Today, Christina Aguilera took to Twitter to answer her fans’ questions about her new album. She had leaked a few details last month and had said it would be like a “rebirth” for her, but she hadn’t given much more information.

“Album title: Lotus. Representing an unbreakable flower that survives under the hardest conditions and still thrives,” she wrote, according to MTV. “There will be a Lotus intro to set the tone for the whole record. Conceptually, I didn’t target one particular sound/genre. Self expression and freedom [are album themes]. The album represents a rebirth for me.”

She tweeted that the first single off the album Lotus, called “Your Body,” will be released on Friday. Anyone wanting to see the video for the song will have to tune in Monday to Aguilera’s show, The Voice, because it will be premiering there. However, according to MTV, the “premiere” may not be the full video but just a preview. Aguilera’s Twitter page also shows the artwork for “Your Body,” which is just the singer dressed in pink against a peach background. It looks like she is trying to show her softer side.

The first single is what you might expect from the singer’s first single, but it doesn’t mean the entire album will be the same. “While ‘Your Body’ is a Max Martin-produced club banger, she confirmed that there will be some slower jams on there as well,” said MTV. “She wrote, ‘There are some beautiful personal ballads on this album. I wouldn’t do a record without them.'”

The singer’s last album, Bionic, came out in 2010 and sold very few copies by pop-star standards. But as a result of Aguilera’s current success on The Voice, Lotus is expected to be much more popular. And Aguilera may be considering returning purely to her performer side, hinting she will take some time off from the TV show.

“I’m excited for S3 & #TeamXtina,” she said. “Love this show! But I’m also excited to be in artist mode and sharing new music.” The third night of The Voice‘s premiere airs tonight.
