This Liam Neeson–helmed sequel took off big-time this weekend, raking in $50 million — double what the first film took in opening weekend back in 2009. It looks like audiences were looking for a good action-thriller.

The animated Halloween flick was strong at the box office, but not strong enough to hold on to last week’s No. 1 position. Revenue was down 38%, but the film still pulled off an impressive $26.3 million and took a big bite out of the the other spooky holiday movie it was competing with.

After a week in limited release, this film opened nationwide to a tune of $14.7 million. This Glee meets Bridesmaids film is enjoying a bit of buzz from women because the hilarious Rebel Wilson steals every scene she is in.

The Bruce Willis/Joseph Gordon Levitt film had a 41% drop in box office revenue, but audiences are still raving about Gordon Levitt’s performance as he transforms himself into the a younger version of the Willis character. The sci-fi thriller is perfect for fans of the time-travel genre.

Tim Burton is having a tough year after disappointing box office receipts for Dark Shadows and now his stop-motion project, Frankenweenie. Despite good reviews and strong ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, the simple story of a boy and his dog did not resonate with audiences this weekend. Whether it’s the black and white aspect of the film or the competition from Hotel Transylvania, this Disney movie is a box office weenie.

The crime drama with Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Kendrick slides down three notches to the sixth position with $4 million in ticket sales. This is the second Kendrick film in the top 10 this week, so it keeps the spotlight strong on the young actress.

Down a total of 47%, the father-daughter relationship and Oscar-bait film is quickly moving out of the top box office draws. Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams cannot save a film that was not greeted warmly by critics.

The creepy horror film with Jennifer Lawrence and Elisabeth Shue is down 48% for a total of $3.7 million for its third weekend in theaters. Even though this movie is perfect October fare, it’s quickly becoming a distant memory.

Is it about L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology, or isn’t it? Paul Thomas Anderson’s masterpiece is generating the best reviews of Joaquin Phoenix’s career. Get a head start on seeing the Oscar-worthy films and watch Phoenix’s masterful performance.

This film has done extremely well over the last month, and even though it isn’t going to be in the top 10 for long, Disney must be pleased with the remastered version of its Pixar classic. In the fourth weekend, Nemo added another $1.6 million to its overall box office haul.
