Ben Affleck couldn’t leave his Good Morning America appearance Monday without taking a moment to congratulate weatherman Sam Champion on his engagement. With a wish for the future, the Argo actor shared these kind words.
Ben Affleck may be out promoting Argo, but the actor has other causes still in mind. During a stop by Good Morning America on Monday, the gay marriage advocate took a moment to congratulate weatherman Sam Champion on his engagement to partner Rubem Robierb.
“Oh, I want to congratulate Sam on his upcoming nuptials,” Ben Affleck said, halting the GMA chitchat for just a moment.
Speaking in the direction of the newly engaged Sam Champion, who nodded graciously to the actor from offstage, Affleck added, “It’s to our shame that you can’t get married in every state in the union, but one day I hope you will be able to. It’s very exciting, though. I was very inspired. Moving love story.”

In the clip below, Sam Champion shared his experience being on the receiving end of such sweet — not to mention numerous — well-wishes.
“The amazing response from folks all over the country was just incredible for us,” the 51-year-old gushed. “I felt like we lived in a small town… I was born in Paducah, Kentucky, and to me that’s exactly what it felt like. We walked out on the street and everyone was like, ‘Hey, congratulations.'”
Of fiancé Rubem Robierb, caught by the cameras grinning, Sam Champion added, “I have met the most wonderful, giving, loving, caring person. I am so, so lucky to have someone like this in my life.”
