Hulk Hogan is finally telling all about that sex tape that his the interwebs last week. The sad truth? It looks like his best friend might have set the whole thing up.
Call us cynical, but we assumed that the leak of Hulk Hogan’s sex tape was somehow tied in with his promotion of his upcoming “Super Bowl of Wrestling” pay-per-view special Bound For Glory set to air this weekend.
Now? We’re not so sure.
Hogan sat down for a really honest interview with SiriusXM Hits 1’s Morning Mashup and basically revealed that yes, it looks likely that his so-called “best friend” Bubba the Love Sponge set up the sex tape release.
“Thank God the kids are 22 and 24,” he said, referring to kids Nick Hogan and Brooke Hogan. “Thank God my new wife Jennifer isn’t a part of this media circus.”
If you’ll recall, Gawker released a short one-minute clip of Hogan’s intimate encounter with Heather Clem, the wife of shock jock Bubba the Love Sponge. Immediately, we wondered who filmed the encounter, especially since the footage seems to be from a security camera.
Turns out, the thing was two years in the making.
“Bubba was my best friend,” Hogan said. “For two years Heather was like, ‘I’m crazy about you and would love to have sex with you.'”
It wasn’t a joke. Hulk added that Clem was pretty intense and persistent about it — and Bubba was on board.
“He’s like, ‘Yeah, it’s cool, man,'” Hogan recalled. This went on for two years until he hit a personal rock bottom with his now ex-wife, Linda Hogan, and his son’s jail sentence.
“Eventually I just said, ‘The hell with it,'” he said. “I never would dream cameras were involved.”
The Hulkster even remembered making a comment about the security camera, but Bubba assured him nothing was turned on. Fast forward to a few months ago: Pictures from the tape emerged on the web — and it freaked Hogan out. He called up his best bud to get the low-down on what happened.
“I told Bubba, ‘Dude, I don’t know what’s going on. I’m done now. Criminal charges are being filed. I need to know if you did this or not,'” he remembered.
Bubba denied knowing anything about it, but people who’ve seen the full tape say his so-called best pal walks up to the camera at the end of the tape.
“Hey Heather, here’s our retirement if we ever need it,” Bubba allegedly says in the video.
Hogan said the realization that his friend released the tape gave him an intense physical reaction that he thought was a heart attack.
“If this is true, then not only was he not my friend, he waited until I was at a low point [to film],” adding that Bubba knew all about his personal problems and “He didn’t care about any of that.”
Disgruntled employee responsible for the leak?
Hogan still hasn’t watched the whole tape, but he’s probably going to make lawyer David Houston watch it to see if it’s in fact what everyone is saying.
A source told RadarOnline that it was actually leaked by Bubba’s ex-employee.
“Even though Bubba knew how much the Hulk sex tape would be worth, he didn’t stab his friend in the back and he’s not the one who released it,” the source told the website. “It’s a former employee of Bubba’s who was outraged when he left Sirius to go back to terrestrial radio. He wanted payback.”
A couple of problems with that: Why would the employee know it exists? Also, why would Bubba and Clem record him in the first place?
“I’m praying to God [that it’s not true],” he added. “I know what people told me. I’m waiting to see this tape.”
And if Bubba did release the tape?
“He’s already forgiven and I wish him nothing but peace and happiness,” Hogan said, adding that he’ll hand over everything to his lawyer for criminal and civil charges.
As for their relationship, if it’s true?
“We really were never friends,” Hogan told the Mashup.
