How come when I watch Brad‘s new Chanel No. 5 ad, all I can think of is Mike Myers’ open mic night in So I Married an Axe Murderer? (See at the bottom.) Seriously, this reminds me of something my sister and I would do to be smart a**** and then lose it and laugh uproariously somewhere in the middle. I guess that’s why Brad’s an actor and I’m not.

Sometimes I get paid millions to stuff my hands in my pockets and be philosophical about journeys and s***, and look away from the camera while I turn with the world, and then I watch the commercial I just made and I think — wow, I seem kind of full of myself. But then I realize people will gobble it up like turkey on Thanksgiving Day because I’m Brad Pitt. Then, I take my check and go home…
The war on drugs is really a war on poor people
Huh? Brad Pitt is an executive director on The House I Live In, a documentary about the war on drugs. In an interview with The Huffington Post, Brad says that when the director (Eugene Jarecki) pitched the idea, Jarecki said the war on drugs is “possibly a barrier to keep the impoverished down, to keep them shackled.” He did concede that this notion was perhaps even a bit too liberal for him, but that he was forced to consider it after witnessing what had taken place post Hurricane Katrina. So the Federal Government’s big agenda is to keep impoverished people (who use drugs) on social programs that cost money instead of wanting these people to be off drugs, working, and generating tax revenue? I’m confused. That’s why I’m eager to watch this documentary, so I can get a clearer picture of exactly what Brad is talking about.
Brad hearts Obama
In this clip, Brad says he’s an Obama supporter, but that it’s hard to not be cynical, and that he is disappointed and disgusted. That certainly puts him in a league of millions. Here, we see a Brad who is earnest and concerned, and it does make me feel a little dirty for giving him kind of a hard time. You can see that his heart is in the right place, and he’s not trying to sway anyone’s opinion one way or the other. In summary, we still love Brad, even if he his verbal processing is, at times, perplexing. Hopefully, it’s the election year that’s making him appear just a bit more “in our face.” After the election, I’m sure we’ll see more of the “Aww, shucks” Brad we know and love.
