It’s official: Emily Maynard and Jef Holm call it quits

The couple hadn’t been together long, but it looks like they hit the rocks almost immediately. Today, they officially announced their breakup.

Emily Maynard and Jef Holm Confirm Their Split
It’s official, Emily Maynard and Jef Holm have officially called it quits, but Jef still says he loved Emily more than he’s ever loved anyone else…

Gossip columnists were hinting last week that The Bachelorette’s Emily Maynard and Jef Holm had broken up, and would be releasing a statement on the breakup very soon. On Oct. 10, “Reality Steve” wrote about the issue.

He said, “I don’t care if you don’t believe me. I don’t care if you say I’m crazy. And I don’t care if you have 1,000 questions for me,” said Reality Steve on his website. “Until Jef and Emily officially go on the record and release a statement, I guess that’s when you’ll believe it, but I can tell you right now that Jef and Emily broke up this weekend. Done. Over. No longer engaged.”

He was right when he said we might not believe it until they release a statement. But now, less than a week after his rumor, the couple did, in fact, release a statement. Or rather, two different statements.

“I am sorry to tell you that Jef and I have, indeed, parted ways,” Maynard told People. “It was a very difficult and heartbreaking decision. I have nothing but respect and love for Jef and his family, but ultimately we are just at different points in our lives. I’ve learned so much and I’m grateful for all of the support I’ve received. I’m excited and hopeful for the next chapter in my life with my daughter, Ricki. I do hope that you will respect our privacy and allow us the time we need to heal.”

The couple have been spending “significant” time apart in recent weeks, according to People, and that started the breakup rumors. But sometimes rumors are there for a reason, and it turns out this one had a lot of truth to it. Holm also released his own statement.

“Meeting Emily on The Bachelorette was an incredible experience, we’ve had quite the journey. I’ve never loved someone so much in my whole life, Emily is the best person and mom I have ever met. She opened up her world to me and I fell in love with her, [her daughter] Ricki, her family and the Hendricks,” he said. “Emily and I are great friends and I hope we can continue to be friends forever. Everyone wants a salacious story to break, but the truth is we are just two people who fell in love and tried our hardest to make it work. I will always love her.”

Neither Holm nor Maynard have said what their future holds, but it looks like they will both go back to their lives before The Bachelorette — without the show or each other.
