Will Ferrell became the latest heavy hitter to stop by the Chelsea Lately set, as the late-night E! chat fest closes in on 1000 shows.
Chelsea Handler had an unexpected visitor during the round-table discussion on her show, Chelsea Lately, last night. Will Ferrell, dressed in a Chicago Cubs jersey and driving a golf cart, stopped by to give the late-night talk show host a piece of his mind.
With a straight face, the comedian delivered a riotous, two-minute comedy bit that had Handler crying from laughter.
He started off by insulting the show and her new studio, by saying, “This show’s a joke. Whoever made the decision to give you this big, fancy studio is an idiot. I should know, I’ve been on twice. Two of the worst days of my life. And I’ve been to jail six times, OK?”
The best-selling author of four books could barely look at the Anchorman: The Legend Continues star as he attempted to leave the studio, repeatedly reversing the golf cart in several unsuccessful attempts at three-point turns.
She was doubled over with laughter as she said, “I can’t take him. I can’t take his body or when he talks.”
The round-table panel was equally taken with Ferrell’s comedy bit.
Handler has made quite a splash with her new studio, which houses 250 audience members and was once the home of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. The show makeover was a part of her contract, which has been extended through 2014 and includes a $25 million payday.
Since she debuted the new set, Chelsea Lately has had quite a few buzzworthy moments, from pal Jennifer Aniston‘s tear-jerking moment over her engagement, to stepping naked into the shower with Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. In addition to her nearly 1000 shows on the E! Channel, Handler has also penned a new book called 50 Shades of Chartreuse: This Time It’s Personal.
The big career moves mean a lot to the comedienne, who told TheHuffington Post, “It’s millions of dollars on the stage. I mean, it’s a really big statement to me. It makes me realize that I have a late-night show. I never considered it anything like the others. People are always comparing me to the guys. And… now they can. I am going to be one of the ‘guys.’ I’m here to stay.”
