We’ve got a whole list of new DVDs our readers are going to love when the kids are at school or asleep, but we’re giving our top spot to a movie the whole family can enjoy.
No. 1: Crooked Arrows
Looking for a movie fit for the whole family? Here’s a compelling story of a Native American lacrosse team in search of pride, belonging and purpose. Crooked Arrows explores the power of teamwork, and the lessons found in competition. The underdog element will be a hit for anyone who loved movies like Friday Night Lights or Remember the Titans.
Moviefone viewers are giving this a 99%!
No. 2: Magic Mike
Put the kids to sleep and enter the sensitive side of things in the world of male strippers. Channing Tatum, Matt Bowman, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer bare all, alongside Olivia Munn and Cody Horn. The guys may have their routines at night, but Mike (Tatum) has his eye on a woman that may change his ways. You know this has already piqued your interest.

No. 3: Take This Waltz
Margot (Michelle Williams) and Lou (Seth Rogen) are happily married in urban Toronto. Lou spends his days writing cookbooks and, well, Margot’s switched up her routine and has slowly begun falling for her artist neighbor, Daniel (Luke Kirby), who lives across the street. Take This Waltz is a tug-of-war tale of love, self-image and the transformations long-term relationships have on us and our sex drive.
Rotten Tomatoes: 78% fresh
No. 4: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
President by day, hunter of the undead by night. Twi-hards be warned: Edward and Bella wouldn’t stand a chance against Lincoln (Benjamin Walker). Okay, okay, the movie may not be historically accurate, but here’s what you get when Tim Burton helps cook up a vampire-driven horror film hitting stores just in time for Halloween.
Rotten Tomatoes: 35% splat
No. 5: Savages
Imagine Weeds. Now erase suburbia and the world of soccer moms, and replace them with high-roller entrepreneurs, the Mexican drug cartel and a cast including Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek and John Travolta. Big money meets big danger when Ophelia (Lively) gets wrapped up in the middle and kidnapped.
