The American Music Awards is going to be one of the big shows to watch in November, as it has added country sweetheart Carrie Underwood, pop sensation Pink and rapper Pitbull to its list of performers.
It looks like the roster for The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards (AMAs) just got a little bigger. Today, it was announced that Carrie Underwood, Pink, and Pitbull were going to join the list of powerhouse performers.
Dick Clark Productions is again set to executive produce the show alongside Allen Shapiro and Orly Adelson. The awards show will be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre at L.A. Live on Sunday, Nov. 18. ABC will carry the coverage, which has become the kickoff event to awards-show season each year.
Already announced performers include Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Linkin Park and Christina Aguilera. That lineup promises to rival the Grammy Awards in terms of star power and music divas. More presenters and performers will be announced in the next few weeks.
The winners of the AMAs are determined by the fans, using an online voting process. Coca-Cola is sponsoring the voting website, where viewers can honor their favorite artists in categories like Pop/Rock, Adult Contemporary, Latin — and for the first time ever, Electronic Dance Music.
The show is also continuing its online, pre-show coverage, with Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! hosted by Lance Bass, Brad Goreski, Kimberly Cole, Sean Kingston, Eden Sher, Tristan Wilds, and the Nokia correspondent Andy Grammer. The live stream will begin three hours before the actual awards show.
The AMAs are the perfect showcase for artists who are currently touring and have albums to push before the holiday season. Carrie Underwood, who is co-hosting this week’s CMAs with Brad Paisley, is in the middle of her Blown Away tour. Pink will launch her North American tour in Feb. 2013, and Pitbull’s new Global Warming album drops on Nov. 19.
The AMAs will air on ABC, on Nov. 18 at 8/7c.
