SheKnows discusses our picks for the worst-dressed at the 2012 American Music Awards.
Most of the celebrities at the 2012 American Music Awards were fabulously dressed, but a few made it onto our list for the worst-dressed, and it’s far from a pretty sight. SheKnows takes you through our picks for the most fashion-challenged — victims of risk and bad taste.
will.i.am
First up on our list is will.i.am. This outfit is bad, like, really bad. The weird shawl with a matching hat and gold chunky necklace is overpowering. I would have personally left off the hat and necklace and let the cool leather sweater speak for itself. I just can’t look away from the hat — are those supposed to be fangs? Or is there a futuristic vibe I am just completely missing here? Sigh. Pop stars.

Karmin (Amy Heidemann and Nick Noonan)
The pattern of Amy’s dress is beautiful, but the fabric across her collarbone is awkward and her hair is way too severe for the elegance of the dress. We know Karmin thrives on being “unique,” but we would have loved to see her in something sleek and short, like Taylor Swift on the red carpet. And let’s not forget her beau Nick Noonan. His suit looks great and pairs nicely with her dress, but Noonan looses us with his shoe selection. A little too casual for our tastes.

Jordin Sparks
Uh, we are not sure what exactly is going on here with Jordin Sparks. The dress looks like a print you might see on scarf and the black mesh looks like a last-minute addition. We think Sparks’ figure looks fabulous in the gown — very hourglass — but the dress itself is just, well, ugly. We love the hair and makeup though, so not a total disaster.

Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington is a gorgeous woman. This dress, though, looks like something she borrowed from her grandma’s closet and I don’t mean that in a “Hey, it’s cool, it’s vintage” way. The color is great, but the cut of the dress hides her thin figure and the length is way too frumpy for her. We can appreciate the attempt to do something different, but the combination just doesn’t work for Kerry Washington.
